Ok, right now, I have my PC hooked up to a broadband router, and I need to know how to make the Mac (Model M5183) connect to it. I have the CAT6 cable plugged into the Mac, and the router shows the port lit up, but the max has no internet. I need to know how to configure it.
The internet we have is Verizon.

What info do you need from me?

OS X
PC is running XP Home

I've tried to go through the "Assist Me" function, but when it fails to automatically connect to the LAN, it asks me for a static IP, which I can't find.

The mac should run straigh off....if not look under internet connections or lan or something.....

Static ip.....dont you have DHCP enabled on the router.....it should autmatically be assigned...

Static ip is an ip that you assign by force to your computer....
if its on default or almost default....you can try something like 192.168.1.125 ...or some such....
You have to connect through the router as a gateway....not to the router.......

If you want to share files between the two, you can actually make the mac do an smb mount.....and share files across the pseudo network...
