Old Mac

I personally wouldnt buy a mac because im into games, and they are quite expensive, however in my opinion the best type of mac is a free one. A friend of mine has offered to give me a old PowerMac 7500 with a 17" Monitor. Now, if i upgrade the ram to whatever it has now + 256mb, would i be able to rum Os 9.2?

What else could i do with it?

NO; a PowerMac 7500 is not built to withstand anything higher than OS 9.1, even with a G3 upgrade card

ok, fair nuff, ill probly just upgrade it to 9.0, or 9.1, or some of the 8.x series. Im planning to upgrade it quite a bit. Im planning to upgrade the ram, hdd, mabye even a g3 upgrade card. Im really looking forward too it.

This is my planned upgrades:

32mb Ram to 288mb (256+32).
Bigger HDD (mabye to 20gb)
Ill look into graphics cards
New Cpu card
more vram

Your upgrade plan looks good to me, but if you want to add 256MB of RAM, you will probably have to get two 128 sticks, since I haven't found any 256MB sticks that are compatible with this model.

If you do plan to get a G3 upgrade, you should be able to run OS X on the system courtesy of XPostFacto 3. The site is:

Well, if you're going to upgrade it hardware wise, I suggest you use only 9.2.2. OS X would deffinitely run on that thing, but it would be soooo slooooow.... So, for that kind of machine, you should get OS 9.x

Shouldn't that speed it up enough?

You can put a mac onto an all windows network no problem, right?

OS 9, it can be done but it requires some work

Oh okay. I might be able to get a free mac, but it would be an older one. (Not sure what OS, though)
