I have the awesome A64 PC in sig. I use my Dad's A64 laptop from time to time, but he uses his as a DTR. I'm not looking at a Turion 64 because I want Unix based OS [I hate Windows] that has hardware suppor right out of the box: Mac OS X. I use Linux, but I've had trouble configuring the wireless net on Linux.

I'm looking to Apple for a rig that has good battery life, little heat output, lots of software, and some games. More importantly, size is an issue. I want it to be small.

Budget is less than $1000. I'm not going to get this until prolly next year, but there is no way I'm getting an Intel even if it is a Mac. I would take a Turion 64 over a P-M any day.

Can someone recommend a current laptop to me within my budget?

Why no Intel, even if it performs better than the PowerPCs next year? Note that we haven't seen the Pentium M Yonah's yet so performance can't be judged. What's the point of refusing to ever use a given product just because it's made by a certain company?

Also note that heat output *should* decrease with the x86 switch.
