Need help with Ipod video

Just got my new ipod video I installed the hardware and plugged it in via usb and its been saying "don not disconnect" for about 30 mins now without anything happening.

I even tried to the update thing and it turned one for like a second and went right back to saying "do not disconnect"

What should I do?

Are you using Windows or Macintosh? It would help to know.

Unplug it, open iTunes, plug it back in, and it should be fixed. If you plug the iPod in before the iPodhelper is installer (it comes with iTunes) then it will say that. The iPod says "Do not unplug" when it is mounted as a disk, but it won't say that when iTunes takes over it.

Does the connector to hook it up to a tv and play it come seperately? Can i buy that at like radioshack?

Yeah, any 1/8" to yellow/white/red will work. You just need to switch the red and yellow. Plug the red into the yellow jack, and the red into the white jack, and the white into the white jack. Otherwise it won't work.
