Mac iweb creates webpages / word ?

I can't find much about it online. Can mac office make webpages? Can it open webpages made with Microsoft office 2000?
or i mean to say
can iweb work with webpages that have been made in mircosoft word?

I don't think so. Theres no 'open' option on the File menu in iWeb. When you save the file in Word, what format is it in? For the record iWeb is part of iLife, not iWork. But if you made it in Word, maybe Pages(an iWork app) can open it. I repeat, whats the file format?
