So today the copies of Leopard arrived. I have 4 machines, all eMacs with either a G4 or G5 CPU and all have 1GB of RAM. Now, as far as the installation goes, is it rather standard like a Windows OS install? Will I need to back up their files externally before I update, or does it just update the system files and things, while preserving file folders?
This is my first time installing a major OS revision on a Mac so I thought I'd check before I end up learning from a potential mistake
I looked through the short included install guide and it only goes through the "Insert Disc, Click Install, Restart, Install, Restart" process, but doesn't say what happens to existing software/files, and doesn't say what is actually under "Options" and "Customize" during the Install process.
