how do I put music on an ipod shuffle?

it has a folder called iPod_Control

then iTunes, and Music in that, and three folders (F00, F01,F02) in the music folder...

where do I put the music?

do I need to use iTunes?

iTunes should automatically recognize the Shuffle and bring up a playlist in the iTunes window. At least this is what happens with a regular iPod.

Yeah, you need Itunes unfortunately. If you just place the music into the folders the format will be wrong. atleast on mine thats what happened

There's alternative software you can find.

The trouble with doing it manually is that there's some sort of index I believe that must be updated.
