I'm having trouble running the Classic OS9 shell in a new imac. It seems that 90% of the programs (specifically Better Telnet FAT) that I want to run just sit in the toolbar and bounce up and down while the "Classic Environment Loads," ultimately leading me to "Force Quit" the program that never even started. I have no software to revert back to OS9, either. I don't see how you guys work with these things. Help! :p

What software is it that you want to use??

There are plenty of SSH capable telnet clinets for Mac OS X, why not use one of these?

give us some more info and we can probably suggest alternative software.

I want to use a telnet program (we use Better Telnet FAT, except in this user's case) to get access into a UNIX box via a (static) IP Address. What alternative telnet programs do you have in mind?

Open the terminal app, under applications>utilities

Then if you just want to telnet, at the command prompt type:

'telnet xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx'
(replace the x's with the static IP number of the box you want to telnet into)

for ssh type:

'ssh xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx'
(as above)

Many, many thanks. :)
Once I figured out to save the shortcut and execute the command "script" automatically, I made this counselor pretty happy.
Even so, we're building a new high school and once they move in next year, they're moving to PC. Why he bought a new IMAC a few months ago is beyond me.
Anyway, thanks again.
