Can't boot off OS 9 CD

I want to install OS 9 on my system, but whenever I try to boot of the CD, I get the infamous blinking broken folder. Is it not meant to boot off a 9.0.4 CD, or could there be problems with the system??

BTW, I have checked the disk on another Mac, and it works fine.

I have encountered this before as well. I was able to fix it by using another CD-ROM drive in the system. If you have another spare one floating around I would ghetto rig it onto your Mac and see if that will work.

OK, I put the original drive back in and tried to boot off it again, but no luck.

Any other ideas?

wow..hmmm bad IDE cable maybe? You have another OS9 disc you an try? Thats odd though..you have norton or something else that will boot you into OS9? That way you could at least pin point the problem..

The IDE cable is good, because the drive works all the time except when I try to do that, and I don't have another OS 9 CD.

But I will try to boot off of it thru Norton.

OK, I can boot off the Norton disk I have (which has a 9.2 bootsector, if you wanna call it that) but still not off the 9.0.4 disk.

Maybe I should try testing it on a different computer than the one I tested it on last time.

ok cool so you know for sure it is something with that specific disk version. You dont have a 9.2.2 disk? If you need one shoot me a PM.

OK, my friend gave me his spare 9.2 disk and it worked great.
