Whenever I start my PowerBook up in the morning (I turn it off at night, or rather, it turns it's self off  ) the iCal icon in the dock defaults to Jul 17th. It's kinda annoying to have to open it up to get it to set it's self to the correct date. Is there any way the damn thing can be taught to figure out what the day is? It switches to the next day at midnight (like it should), so it's even more perplexing to me. I didn't even have the computer on July 17th, so I don't know why it thinks that date is so special..

July 17th, 2002 would be the day that iCal was publically introduced at the Mac World Expo in New York.
