I have old mac, it has OS10.4 running, have a hard disk size of 10GB. Under finder it say total capacity 9.36 GB and zero available.

I deleted almost 750MB from music folder and emptied trash and still no change.

Under finder, hard disk has 9.36 GB worth of data.

Under hard disk there are 4 folders

Applications, library and system. All 3 of them have combined capacity of close to 5GB.

Users = have about 4.2 GB. But when I click individual folders in USERS all of them have zero KB worth of data. As I know myself that there is no data under USERS.

How do I solve this?

I could not find any hidden folder. How to find them? Numbers just don't add up. I know I don't have any music, picture and music stored in the computer. How come under USERS it say 4.2 GB is used?

I think mac will cache programs for faster startup the next time you try and open them. I noticed the my available memory kept going down everyday from this. I completely turned of my computer and did a restart and then the memory that is was using became available again. This may be the issue.
