30 inch displays and DVI ports

I was wondering if I could use Apple displays in a PC. I'm wondering paticuarly about the DVI port, because I heard that the 30 inch Displays use the next generation of DVI ports.

What ports do the 20/23/30 inch displays use, Could you use an Apple Display on a PC, and is a second generation and first generation DVI port, and are the DVI ports the same for macs and PCs?

The DVI spec is the same on both platforms. To use the 30 inch display on a PC, you need a PC graphics card that has dual link DVI standard (this is different from standard DVI, but has the same looking port). The other screens use regular, single stream DVI ports.

So you can use a Apple moniter on a PC....
Is the dual link standard backwards comptable? Can i have a dual link DVI card and use a single stream DVI port?
