Hey, I just upped the memory from 512MB to 2GB but it's still slowing down.

I've used DirectoryX (windirstat for osx) and cleaned out a LOT of HDD space.

Would reloading the OS help or is that Windows thinking?

I've noticed that it takes about 30 seconds for startup instead of 15 seconds!

pretty much... once it's up and running it's just as fast.

It has done a few weird things lately though... but I didn't document them so I can't remember...

I posted this on the snow leopard page, but run the periodic log rotation scripts and in Disk Utility Repair your permissions and restart :)

The scripts are run by going to Terminal (Applications->Utilities) and one by one typing
Code:
sudo periodic daily (usually fast)
sudo periodic weekly (slow be patient)
sudo periodic monthly (pretty fast)

And then Disk Utility permissions repair, i normally see drastic performance increase when I do this :-D

If you continue to have issues lemme know

Yeah! I just got home and ran the sudo periodic --- stuff and rebooted and it's freaking great!

running the repair permissions now...

thanks a lot!

so I'll have to add in to my list "0 down time, 0 maintenance for 2.5 yrs"
