The idea as suggested above has not worked. I tried logging on with a different name that is local to the computer having the problem and still receive the error:

"There are currently no logon servers available to service the logon request"

The other computer is still allowing access to the laptop after i enter a username and passord which I don't mind doing.

Any other ideas for getting around this problem??

I appreciate any ideas and suggestions.

I figured out the problem.

The 'gateway' computer has to be offline to connect to the laptop. I can then reconnect to the internet and still have access.

Don't know why but it works so I thought I would post it in case it helps anyone else having the same problem.
