work group not accessible

I am running windows 2000 on my pc and windows xp pro on my laptop. I am attempting to connect them wirelessly. I open my network places and open my computers near me icon. I recieve the error WORK GROUP NOT ACCESSIBLE, the network in not present or not started. I am not sure what to do next. I hope you guys can give me a path to go.

How to configure file sharing in Windows XP

I have file sharing in windows xp on. When on the xp computer i can see the computer with windows 2000. When i try to access the windows 2000 computer i am told i do not have the right permisions. Does this forum have a online tuturiol to walk thru? Do i need to just reinstall the os's and start over?
