Hi

I recently bought a Netgear WGR614 V6, i have some how broken the wizard CD which came with it. IS there anyway i can get the cd from some where on the net.

Well, you don't really need to upgrade your firmware unless you're experiencing a problem.

Routers don't require software to be running on the client computers in order to work. The stuff that's important that comes on the cd is usually the manual, which is on that page.

If you've never used a router before, tell me how you'd like to have it set up and i'll write up a quick guide for you.

thanks for the response,

i have managed to get into the router by going to 192.168.1.1.

my question was when i first "installed" the router on my laptop, i had installed it usig the cd. what was that all about?

Often routers, especially wireless routers have first run wizards. These can be often be accessed by going to the address you just mentioned.

All they do is set up stuff like router password, wireless security, stuff like that.
