wireless router network with high speed modem

I want to set up a second computer to run off a cable modem internet conection. The first computer is conected to the modem. The second computer is not. What is the best way to connect. I have a Netgear 802 G wireless router and a USB wireless adapter for the second computer. Do I hook up the router to the modem or one of the computers? Do I need a second network card for the first computer? I want to keep the #1 wired to the modem and #2 wireless in the next room. Thanks alot!
