Heres the deal. There is a router in a room with 7 Computer connected to it. Theres one more port left. Well we have a guy that is about 180 ft away that needs internet access and access to our network. Would a wireless router or access point get the job done, it also has to go through walls and such.

The router that is currently in the room right now is wired and has 7 CAT5 cables supporting the 7 computers. I only need wireless for this one computer. What I was thinking was connecting the wireless router into the wired router that is currently in that room. Buying a wireless network card for the computer down the hall that is currently 180ft away. Would this work? Im not good with networks and wireless at all.

Wireless cards can easily reach 180 feet. Depending on the price, some will detect wireless networks over at another house nearby.

It's better to buy a wireless router than an access point because you can then turn the wireless router into an access point. Because wireless router are usually cheaper than a single purpose access point. Plus with a wireless router you get extra LAN ports.
