Wireless Range Extender

Hey, i want to extend the range of my wireless network to other parts of the house.
From what i'v read, i need a wireeless range extender, correct?
If this is what i need, what steps do i need to take before i buy one... i.e compatibilty issues?
Secondly, how hard is it to setup?

No, using two of them, one as an access point and one as your router.

This sounds complicated. I do actually have a spare router, how would i do this? I'v got no experience at networking.

I looked this up on google, and from what i can see it means i'll have ethernet cables running round my floors. So i would rather use wireless range extender.

You don't have to have cabling across you're floors. If you already have another router, I would spend 20 minutes trying to get a working setup of DDWRT. It's a free router firmware that allows for repeating. You could save a lot of money- I would give it a shot.

Check the config, see if your routers have the option to act as an access point.

It'll involve some setup stuff, and what not, but you don't need cables.
