wireless pcmcia card troubles

I installed a 11mbps wireless adapter in a compaq laptop it finds the network and i try and connect but nothing happens any ideas?Running windows xp pro the network wireless is a dlink 2.4 ghz 802.11g. the card says its 2.4 ghz 802.11b make is compusa whick is a texas insturment card do i have a compatibility problem? Also the win xp pro is on service pack 1. Thanks gang

You'll probably have to update to SP2, or update drivers.

When you say it finds the network what do you mean? Finds the router? Are you getting an IP address from the router?

ok ive updated to service pack 2.When i plug straight in to the cable from the modem i can get an ip address but when i run it wireless...after hooking the cable modem to the dlink wireless router it sees the network and i get a connet to network but nothing happens when i try and connect.After a while I get a dchp not enabled?Help lol

1st upgrade to sp2
2nd make sure the routher you are connecting to was a WLAN connection and that the internet is pluged into that one
