Hello, working in a small office running a wireless network.

We seem to have issues with some laptops running off the network fine, but two imparticular have problems with connecting... they'll connect half the time and disconnect the other.

Can anyone suggest reasons why these people are getting kicked on and off?

It could be due to resource allocation, such as bandwidth as heister stated, or it could also be a issue with the wireless card. Check the network status on the computers that are cutting in and out and see the number of packets that are being sent and received and match them with the ones which are working normally.

Have you updated the driver for the wireless NIC Cards?

Are these two users in odd or remote locations where the signal may be especially weak or non exsistent?

do nic cards really need to be update? This is a not a sarcastic comment but seriously i was not aware there were updates. Also if there are are they really useful, i.e. what is patched? (flaws in original cfg?)

Wired cards usually don't get many updates. But wireless is a different story. Each vendor has their own options that they like to tweak. And as a result, things don't work together as well as they should. So they release updates to fix their own mistakes. Happened all the time when 802.11g started to come out.
