Wireless N routers

Yeah, it was a mistake to get the n router in the first place. If he can get it swapped he should.
Only get the access point of you still can't connect with the new router (because of signal strength). You also might want to consider ditching the whole wireless setup and just lay some cable down. (it's not that hard to network even a whole house, so just a couple of rooms shouldn't be a problem).
 
We not staying in the same house as the router. We are trying to go across the driveway. I don't think he wants to run a cable over the driveway.

We have been looking at either buying some type of antenna or building or own. Some I seen hook up to the usb port. Wouldn't hooking up to the router be better? Do you have any suggestions?

I found a few that look promising.

The only thing I am not sure about is the connector. Both of those have the N-jack connector. How do I tell what type the router has?
