I know it might be a newbie question, but I have the following problem:

I am using two computers , laptop and desktop. Both of them have Win Xp professional version. They form lan with a cable. The desktop computer connects to the Internet with Wi-Fi. I want to use it to connect to the Internet with laptop computer through the desktop. But when I enable lan network on the desktop computer, connection to the Internet immediately stops working. What should I change?

Yes I used a crossover cable and set up ICS. The problem is when both the Wireless and LAN are enabled I cannot access the Internet. It seems that LAN is blocking it somehow.

Here is what I got:

so in this situation your desktop (host) does not have internet?

a bit strange you do not have dhcp enabled on the wireless. Did you set this static?

Yes. At the moment when both connections are enabled I can not access the Internet. After I disable LAN internet is available again. For dhcp I did not modify anything.

Did you set the wireless or wired connection to allow other users to use this connection? It should be the wireless (D-Link AirPlus G DWL-G510 Wireless P) connection.

Take a look at this walkthrough replacing "connects to your Cable or ADSL modem" with "D-Link AirPlus G DWL-G510 Wireless P" in step 3.

The wireless connection is shared and all firewalls are turned off.

What walkthrough?
