Wireless internet speeds

I got my wireless working today, but I'm having some problems...

my download speeds off of sites are 56k status, 2-4kbs. I load pages fast sometimes, but slow others. but when people download off of me on soulseek, it's 30-40 kbs.

what is going on? how can i fix it?

Is it only on soulseek you have this problem? When you use file sharing websites your limited to the other persons upload speeds, which are generally slow.
