i bought a wireless pci card to connect onto my main server computer at home, so that i can access it from my laptop. installing the hardware was alright, the problem is getting them to send and receive data to one another. once they pick up signal, they send thousands of data but neither of them receive any. i cant connect to the internet nor access anything. been at it for 3 days now and still nothing. used microsoft networking and the belkin software, no result.
anyone got any ideas, suggestions, anything?!?!

Sounds like a firewall is catching the sent info before your computer can properly interpret and use the sent information. Try arranging your firewall configurations so that it allows certain IP's and Subnet masks to access it. This happened to me when I first set up my wireless network.

I would suggest first to see if it's set to Ad-Hoc mode instead of Ifrastructure.
Set that the server will apply an IP address to the laptop.
Have you tried to run the PCI card software (Belkin in your case) ?

hey thanks for the reply. i have tried the belkin software they connect but still no communication between them. i have selected ad hoc when trying both ms networking and the belkin software. still no luck. the other problem is which i should have really mentioned before is, i have got another wired network coming off the main server, and im trying to make another subnet using wireless. i had bridged both networks so they can share resources but still no communcation with the wireless.
would there be anything else i could try?

oh thanks for the suggestion chase, forgot to add to your suggestion. i tried turning off the firewalls when i was networking them, but still didnt work. how did you allow ips and subnet masks to send?
thanks

I think i have a similar set up as you. I have wired network and from that, to a wireless router. I was having same problem, so i had to connect the ethernet from the wired router to a lan port on the wireless instead of the wan port that i had it in.
