im trying to figure out how to setup a home ftp server so other people and also myself can access a specific set folder with whatever i want to put in it. I am connected to a router and have opened all ports needed and setup a virtual server in router (FTP Server using port 21). I am able to access my FTP site on any computer connected to the router but noone else can outside my internal network.. im not sure why.. ive tried other programs as well (serv-u, cerberus)

typical ftp ports are 20 & 21. forward them both.
do you get a login prompt fro the outside?

no i dont get anything coming up at all when trying to log in from outside. it has to be the wan ip for outside people doesnt it? i would like to be able to just use internet explorer (or mozilla etc) to open my ftp site externally from network but nothing comes up at all, when i use smartftp it comes up with a login prompt but nothing i put in will let me in (for wan ip not local)
