wierd connection problem

I use a laptop. i use wireless connection at the college. The internet works, but when i use my bittorrent client it doesnt conect
It connects but the download speeds stay at 0. The speeds are like not working.

Any one know why.
I use Bitcomet client

It is likely because the college's firewall is blocking the ports that this client uses. Your only option is to use that somewhere other than your campus network.

is their a way to unblock the firewall settings, I work with the IT people, but i do basic work.
I do not think they would mind, im really cool with the managers.

There is a way to unblock the firewall & whoever maintains it should know how to do that. I doubt the college will open a hole in it's firewall to allow Bittorrent access, but if they will, then lucky you. Make sure you get approval from the higher ups before asking your buddy to change anything.
