VPN connection for Remote Desktop

I trying to setup remote desktop for my old computer i just bought a network card for, I using the windows website guide to do it but it says i need a VPN connection so i go and i find that follow it instruction get to the second page and i get this

Any ideas on what this means or how to fix this?

just creat a new connection in RDC by going to accessories>>communications>>remote desktop connection then click options.

If you are behind a router you will have to open port 3389
