VNC connection help

Dear Brothers,

I have a problem when i trying to connect my company's laptop with my home's computer. it pop up a dialogue and state "java.net:NoRouteToHostException: Operation timeout"

My IT department have blocked all the msn gateway and XP remote desktop. That's why i need to use VNC to connect my home computer. However, there's still have this error.

What can i do with this error? Should i make some changes on the VNC server before connect to it?

Are you trying to do this on your laptop at work or while you are home?

as i always need pick up some infomation at my home's computer through VNC.

You are sure your I.T. dept has not blocked the VNC port at the firewall level?
