Got the 5mbps service today...upgrading to the 15mbps tomorrow, should i be excited? does anyone else have this?

FIOS is an amazing technology...but its probably a long time before it becomes as widespread as DSL and cable. Its also amazing how DSL is getting so cheap...now $14.99 for basic service from either Verizon or SBC. I pity those who stay on dial-up with AOL when they have the option of DSL for cheaper...and believe me, I know many people like that.

Yeah I'd be curious to see your dsl report. High speed internet is almost a standard now; amazing how the times have changed. I have Comcast upgraded to 8mb, but still not satisfied FIOS' 15mb would be pretty nice, but let's face it - at this point in time that kind of speed is pretty pointless. It'd just be too expensive for servers to be able to handle a couple hundred different clients downloading at 2mb/s. Still.... I'd get FIOS just for the bragging rights!!

Whether we like it or not, dial-up is still king in the USA. Mostly because people are too ignorant to make the switch. Yes, there are people who live in areas where high speed is not available, but there are many more people who live where it is available and choose not to get it. AOL is still by far the #1 provider in the USA.
