Good day,

Having a few problems with some settings. I'm trying to use a Netgear DG834Gv4 modem/router as just a modem. I've just bought a TP-Link WR1043ND "N" router as an upgrade and want to use the Netgear as the modem. I have seen a few threads on Google from people who have configured it to modem mode, but it seems they have come up against problems. Some have said that modem mode reduces the through put speed and dissables the ADSL2+ feature???

Is it better to use bridge mode, dissable DCHP, and leave the DG834G as a router, then connect the TP-Link??? Or should I go the Modem only route???

Has anyone got any experience of this type of stuff???

All assistance welcome

Thanks
Chris

I would turn off dhcp on the new wireless router and use it as an access point and allow your old modem/router to handle dhcp.

or If you can get a modem only from your isp and then use the new router that would be ideal.
