I am having problems trying to set up internet connection sharing on windows xp. What I am trying to do is share my pc's internet connection with my xbox 360. My pc is connected to a qwest router via usb cable. I want to use crossover ethernet cable to connect xbox 360 to pc's ethernet port. On local area connection 1, the one connected to the router, I set the tcp/ip settings to obtain ip automaticly and enabled connection sharing. On the local area connection 2, the one connected to the xbox 360, I set the tcp/ip to manual.

IP 192.168.0.30
Subnet Mask 255.255.255.0
no default gateway

On the 360 I set the tcp/ip settings manual.

IP 192.168.0.99
Subnet Mask 255.255.255.0
Default Gateway 192.168.0.30

Primayry DNS Server 192.168.0.30

When I run xbox live test it fails connection to DNS. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

With XP, your ICS connection will automatically have an address of 192.168.0.1. It will be easiest to keep it that way. Once you have ICS enabled on your xbox connection, set up your Xbox to assign IP automatically. Reboot both, and see if that works.

If your router/modem's IP is 192.168.0.1, you will need to change that one, and not the ICS's. Mine was that way with a Belkin router, and I was able to change the IP of the router.
