I need a wireless USB Network adapter to connect about 75 feet to my wireless router.

What is the typical range for a USB Network adapter ??

Also, what are typical connection speeds using a cable modem. I know it's VERY subjective, but I need a ballpark range.

You need a 75 foot long USB cable???? That will cost you a small fortune.

USB Adapter not cable

Your router is probaly using Wireless G, which gives a 115ft radius range.

Wireless G has a maximum transfer rate of 54Mbit, and a typical transfer rate of 19Mbit. Both of these speeds are faster than what your internet service provider can give you.

115ft is a best case scenario they average around 70 - 90 ft.

USB wireless sticks have a short range because they have a shorter antenna than a inbuilt card, you can get USB adapters with a external antenna they are hard to find though. if you are having a hard time finding one try turning the range boost on (if your router has that feature) or get a linksys range boost pack.

Oh an it is a little hard to Imagen a USB lead in a 75ft length because after 5meaters the 5v will not reach the device that you wish to power.
