Two Network Connections ??

I was on it the other day and it came up with a box saying something about another network connection found or established, something along those lines. Now when I go into control panel then network connections I have got 1394 connection net adapter #2 AND local area connection .... both connected and firewalled it says. The 1394 must be firewire whereas the local connection is via Rhine Ethernet adapter. The Ethernet one is the one I set up at the beginning using that connection.
Any ideas as to why I now have 2?

Yes that is normal. Your firewire port will make this happen. Something about having network capabilites.
