Trouble with a wired connection. PLEASE HELP

I am recently switching from my wireless connection to a wired. I plugged the network cable into the correct spot on my computer as well as my Netgear WNDR router. When I try and connect to it, it asks for the router password and username. I enter and hit connect. It starts up and says "Connection through WAN miniport (PPPOE)" It than comes up with an error. I looked at the logging and I dont know what you would want me to post since it is so long.


I would REALLY like to get this wired connection working. PLEASE HELP!

I think you've plugged the Ethernet cable (one of these) into the wrong port on your router - it's one that's designed for modems to connect to, rather than regular devices. Try sticking it in a different Ethernet port, assuming that your router has more than just that one.

For example, on this router one is colour-coded differently to the other ports to show that it's different.
