I currently have my computers networked. I have 2 desktops getting connected to cable through a router and a notebook that runs wireless. The desktops run pro and the notebook home. They all can access the others freely and can all print to one printer. I just bought a new laptop yesterday. It is an HP that is running home. I am having trouble setting up its network. When I run and finish the wizard, no network has been set up, and the laptop itself does not even show up in my network places. I has working internet as i am using it right now. Any help would be appreciated.

Damm, thought I knew what the problem would be, but it's never that easy :)

Can you ping websites? Try a few different, for example, from a command prompt type:

ping www.google.com

yeah i can ping websites. im getting frustrated. im thinking that i should just re install windows. that should fix the problem am i correct?

don't do that. Is your Windows XP firewall is disabled on this machine?

Im running out of ideas here. You run the network setup wizard and it seems to accept everything, yet there is no connection in your network control panel?
