hey there :)
was wondering if anybody could offer me up any help on transferring some old files (mostly media) from my old Windows PC to my new Mac through my LAN. It would stop me from having to delete all my files on my iPod and using it as an external hard drive which is extremely hard for me considering my old computer is very keen on crashing every 2 minutes (N)
Any advice and help is much appreciated.

You can pull the hard drive out of your old computer and put it in an external enclosure or dock.

Mainly, it goes by the size of the drive and the interface. If your old computer is a laptop, it is a 2.5" drive, and will either be a IDE (ATA/PATA) interface or a SATA. This enclosure can use either.

If it is a desktop, it will be a 3.5" drive and either IDE or SATA. This one can use either interface as well.

If it a SATA drive, you can use one these and make any SATA hard drive an external, as it allows you to pop one out and pop another one in. I have one.
