Is there any way to only allow one device to connect to a router?

I'm thinking about buying a t-mobile branded wireless router
Unsupported Browser
D-Link T-Mobile Wireless Router
So that I could use the UMA feature and actually use my cell phone at home (I get no cell signal). Thing is my phone would be the only device that I would connect wirelessly to. So I'm wondering is there any way I could make it so that my phone is the only device capable of wirelessly connecting to the router? I've hear of mac filtering, does that work well? Or is there anything else I can do?
I would like to do that and any other security stuff to make my connection as secure as possible (basically don't want people jumping on my connection).

Mac filtering and encryption (in order best to worst wpa2, wpa and wep do the highest your phone and router can support) is the best you can do.

Nothing is bulletproof but this combo will make it extremely difficult to get in.
