Has anyone had any problems with a Microsoft MN-500
802.11b router (or other kind) after installing SP2? I
installed the pack, rebooted and everything was working
fine. I had to reboot again shortly after, and from then
on the router did not work. I bypassed the router
(ethernet into back of pc) and got online fine. I
get the local area connection that there's no gateway
address. I tried turning off the SP2 firewall and still
no luck. I was not using wifi through the router, so my comp was wired - making it a little stranger. Any ideas?

Try un-installing SP2 to see if it comes back online. I know there are some real compatibility issues with SP2 but you would think they would have tested it with their own equipment.

Try shutting off the Internet Connection Firewall that SP2 turns on by default. It's in a new Control Panel called "Security Center."

I would unplug the network cable from the computer and run the network wizard. reboot and plug the cable back in. or you can try disabling than enabling your network connection in control panel> network connections.
