I have a Linksys WRT54GS. In my network I have 1 XP Home 1 XP Pro, both of desktops. Home is wired, Pro is wireless. Then I have 2 Vista Home preimium laptops. Sending files from my laptop to my other laptop, the highest trasfer rate i get is 1 MB/s. Then I took on of my laptops, went into the room where my router is so that the signal would be 100% and did a transfer to my Home desktop and my highest transfer rate was 2.5 MB/s. Are these speeds normal? Or should they be faster?

What can I do to speed it up if there is anything I can do?

yea, imo that is fine.
still considered "slow" due to wireless N and wired, however it's only 54Mbps.
as well, i can only assume you have WPA encryption, which can add an overhead...something like 10-30%...
if you transferred from a laptop - does it have only a 5400rpm hard drive? most do, which causes speed issues as well.

for comparison, i usually get 10-13MB/s over 100Mb wired no encryption.

You also have to remember that the 54Mbps is really theoretical speed. In reality you're prolly running at a few pegs down from that.
