Hi guys. My modem-router has given up the ghost after only one year. It was a 108mbps router... but they seem to have gotten more expensive over the past 12 months. So my question: Is my pc capable of using the 108mbps?... Dell inspiron 6400..

Intel® Pro Wireless 3945 802.11a/b/g Mini PCI Wireless LAN Card for Duo Processors.

This is the gizzmo I'm thinking I might get http://www.dabs.com/productview.asp...&SearchKey=All&SearchMode=All&NavigationKey=0

please 'elp!

Oh, I live in the UK, if that makes any difference.

The only reason to get one over the other would be your LAN traffic.... any traffic between hosts connected to the router. The speed of the 54 vs 108 MB model will no affect internet speed, as the internet pipe is considerably less than 54 MB (I would imagine).

Also note, that to take full advantage of the 108MB router, you would need a matching wireless card to go with it (again, this pertains ONLY to data within the LAN)...

Here are some good articles for you to check out....

Thanks mate; my connection is 2mbps I think, and I doubt it's going to leap to over 54mbps anytime soon.

I got a bit confused by the ISPs and the router chaps using different lingo for the same specifications. Two industies seperated by a common language. :)

Cheers!
