Sharepoint Default IIS Site Won't Open

I have just recently installed MOSS 2007 Enterprise on a dedicated server in our farm. I have all the necessary admin users created in Active Directory. SQL Server 2005 is installed. Sharepoint search services is running, and Shared Services is running. The default site created on port 80 by sharepoint will not open. I continue to get a page cannot be found or page is under construction error.

Can anyone assist me with this?

page cannot be found can be a permissions issue or a firewall issue.

if you get page under construction, this is the default page for iis. i'd look for the appropiate url for sharepoint. You can open admin tools > iis and look for the website with the sharepoint files.

After configuring shared services, sharepoint - 80 will not open, IE says page cannot be found...
In IIS its listed as Default Web Site, sharepoint - 80 is not listed
