Share Internet & make Network

I am trying to share an internet connection & and 2 computers networked.


I have a boadband modem that is plugged into my router.

From there I have two Cat6 cables for each computer to recieve the internet.

I now want to network them I have a gut feeling I cannnot use Cat Cables anymore or use the router. I will have to directly connect the two PCs through USB or Firewire correct?

what is your router model? if it has a built in switch you can just have a local network via the router (with a built in switch)

yes it has a built in switch but I'm using that to share the internet you cannot share both the internet and make a network using the same cables on the same router correct?
