Well the steps i always take with a new person is i give them options. I give them the option to choose which freeware apps they want installed. Like AVG, Avast for Anti-Virus and Zone Alarm or Comodo. I make sure they knwo that these things are free on the net and they can do all the research they want after i finish fixing the PC and install anyone on their own time.
That way they can make a educated decision on their own if they want to. I dont pressure them into making a choice while i am there. If they want i will give them my personal advice and i tell them right from the get go that this is my opinion. Not a professional thing. That way they know up front what all their options are and that they have choices. They like that.
