Can anyone point me in the right direction. I'm studying for my MCSE and would like to know;

The minimum amount of computers I need to set up a domain at home

Any special reqs,

Can I network 98 to XP?

Thanks,

J

www.petri.co.il has really good articles.
labmice.net should also help

yes you can network 98 and xp, can be a pain in 98 especially w/ drivers but once drivers are good then its a piece of cake.

Thanks for the reply mate, one quick question further...

At a mimimum how many actual PC's would i need if i wanted to setup a network at home. I would have thought 3, one to hold the Active directory and one to hold the Domain Controller or DHCP. I would also like to have a computer solely for the users to log onto separate from the AD and DC. Do you know how many computers that would take at a minimum. Could the AD and DC be on the same computer. I would have thought you would need;

3 computers,

1. The Active Directory
2. For the Domain Controller
3. For the users to log onto ( I want this to be separate).

Thanks,

J

basically the active directory server IS the domain controller, DHCP can run on there as well, its actually probably a good idea. keep in mind for MCSE, i believe they recommend 2 domain controllers but for a home network 1 has done wonders for me, never run into issues, of course that server never sees the internet either.
