Securing my PCs on a network

I have a wifi network that I share with two other roommates. I have one desktop PC and one laptop, both run Vista x64 business. Currently they talk to each other. How can i make sure that neither of my other two roommates can see my files/folders on my pc or laptop?

Would they be looking at the folders locally or from their own computers?

From their own PCs in their own room. They would not physically be on my pc.

To enable password protected sharing, do the following:

1. In the Sharing and Discovery section of the Network and Sharing Center window, click the down arrow next to Password protected sharing.
2. Within the Password protected sharing settings, click Turn on password protected sharing, and then click Apply.
