well I was at bestbuy and I was looking at HDTV when a employee was talking about them to customer and he said the HDTV will help you get better reception for people that have satellite internet is this true? my mom bought a HDTV for the living room (can't wait to get discovery HD) and we ordered earthlink satellite internet couple of days ago.

Hello,

Sure you didn't mishear...?

A HDTV won't give you a stronger / clearer Satellite Internet signal.

yeah...the conversation doesn't make all too much sense to people who understand it fully :D Some of us would have to be there to hear what is all said.

HDTVs only display...and they display better imagery if given the proper source, ie., HD content. They actually display SD imagery the same as standard tubes...but they do not have scanlines to create the perception of better SD images. Same concept applies if you every mess with old arcade emus...and they have blitters that enable a scanline effect...the image then is percieved to be "sharper".

Satellite internet has some limitations too, aside from the overcast drops (sometimes)....
