Same workgroup and guest account questions

Hi, I have 2 basic quetions:
I have 2 computers connected with a crossover cable..


1) Should 2 computers be in the same Workgroup in order for them to share files?

2) when I try to connect to another computer on the network (double click on it), it asks for the password of guest account (cannot change the account from guest to any othre username!
How can I solve this?
