Hi.

I've got a Netgear DG834 router which has 4 ethernet ports and connects to the internet without the need of a separate ADSL modem. I now want to add wireless capabilities as cheaply as possible. So far, I've noticed that things like the Linksys 802.11b Wireless Routers are often cheaper on eBay than wireless access points.

Can I just plug it into my existing router, using the rj45 socket that's supposed to go to the modem? Or would I be better off getting a proper wireless access point?

using another router would also provide me with a few extra ethernet connections too, which always comes in handy!

If you want to add a wireless router to you network, you would plug a cable into a LAN port on each router. On the wireless router, when you configure it, make sure to change the IP address so that it is in the same subnet as the Netgear router, but not using the same address as another device. Also, you will want to trun of DHCP on the wireless router.
