router troubles

my router dont let me and my bro both go online at same time, when he goes on first it lets him connect to msn or whatever but i cant even open a simple web page, its not like he is downloading and i'm trying to play online games, simple things wont work together, i never set up a network before so not sure if theres some settings i'm missing, i use a cable modem and a belkin router, we both connect wirelessly, any help would be great as he aint using it til its sorted

sounds like what would happen if you were using a hub or switch. Is DHCP enabled? Actually first of all what is the model number of this equipment?

make sure you are not using the same IP

we are using different ip's, i got them both working at same time but very slow, i have a 1.5mb connection, my bro's comp did have spyware but can that slow me down even if he on same router? i cleared most of the spyware but his transfer rate for download.com is in bytes lol, my comp works fine except slower and i cant sign in to msn when he is on. i'm sittin right under the router too
